Mozilla Thunderbird - no email sound!

Since an update some weeks ago to Thunderbird I don't get any sound when a new email arrives anymore. I used to get a Mac default sound before the update when new mail arrived so I wondered if anyone else uses it and is having the same problem. I am on OSX 10.5.8 and Thunderbird 3.0.2.

Now downloaded and installed 3.0.3. Still no default mail sound.

See grab below. TB is configured as this so I assume sounds should play as they did before. All sounds play ok in System Prefs window and also in all other apps.
